Do I have to buy a spreadsheet?
No. Spreadsheets are one delivery option. If you'd rather compute on the data, take the API or bulk files.
Is there an API for agents and tools?

How fresh is it?
The 2026 edition uses FBI CDE source year 2025. The National licence includes quarterly refresh; API and bulk follow the same cadence.
